Wei Jien + Sue Lynn's Wedding Highlights

Our wedding videographer Nigel has a gift for choosing all the right songs for wedding videos. He selected all the three songs for our video and they were perfect for rif and I. It goes to show that he understands the subject matter, or in our case, the people he was filming very well. I love the outcome of our wedding highlights. Important details were captured and special moments were documented candid-style.
Kudos to Ren, who was filming on rif’s side when he was getting ready to pick me up. Love the shot of rif putting on his shirt and the close-up shot of his ring when he was wearing his shoes. By the way, my wedding shoes were 5 inches high and while I love them to bits, they were a torture to wear. My dinner heels were 6 inches high, because
I'm short
rif is so tall! Nigel’s storyboard on the wedding highlight is slightly different from what I expected, but I like it that way. He never fails to surprise me with his creativity. Thank you Nigel Sia and team, for being so wonderful to work with. rif and I can’t wait for full edit of the actual day.

For all you future brides, email (hello@nigelsia.com) or call (016-384 4617) Nigel quickly if you want him to film your big day. This guy is a busy busy bee!

Nyonya Beaded Shoes

Many people ask me how the wedding preps are going. Almost everywhere I go, I get this, "So how are things with the wedding?" Well, to be honest, I don't quite know. I haven't had the time to sit down with my wedding planner (who is and has been in charge of things since March this year - yay!).

rif's mother started making my Nyonya beaded shoes -- the process looks painfully difficult. I think I would go blind if I were to ever attempt such a feat. Oh well, I'm lucky she's fond of me and wants to do it. :)

This is only the start, but it looks beautiful to me. Anyone knows where I can get stiletto heels to attach the beaded artwork on? I don't want to wear the chunky, low-heeled shoes most Nyonya shoes come with. Would be great if Peranakans out there could share some tips!

Wedding Shoes

I didn't get to purchase the wedding shoe I wanted, as my size ran out of stock. Buying wedding shoes online seems like a cheaper option, as custom made shoes in KL cost at least RM350. These are three pairs that I like:

Badgley Mischka Women's Fuller Platform Pump ($175.75)

This pair is rather expensive, but I like that it's 4.5 inch high. I'm hoping it would go on sale so I can buy it. I reckon it's quite sturdy because of the elevated front. That way, I can balance myself AND the wedding gown properly.

Nina Women's Electra Platform Pump ($48.99)

I'm definitely going to wear a red evening gown for the wedding dinner. As for my change of Cheongsam, I'm still deciding on the colour. For the tea-ceremony, I won't be wearing a kua. Instead, I'll be donning a Nyonya kebaya as rif's family is from Malacca.

Steve Madden Women's Haylow T-Strap Sandal ($71.96)

I like the glitter effect on this pair -- I feel it would go well with my red gown, but some people think it's too bling. What say you?

*Brian Ng, I'll need you US mailing address if I'm buying any of the shoes above. You're coming back in March right?

Shoes - How high should they be?

I've been thinking about what shoe I would wear for the wedding. Wei Jien's sister told me she custom made hers for slightly over RM300. That seemed like a fair price to pay. I saw a few online, and my favourite is this diamante strappy heels from Badgley Mischka.

It's about 4 inches high and the heel seems sturdy enough to last for a whole day. Wei Jien isn't keen on this pair initially. But he soon agreed that this was simple yet sparkly enough. This pair is on sale now at USD115. I reckon it''s a bit too early to decide on this, so I'm still at the 'browsing around' stage.

The two pairs below are a tad too simple for me, but a lot of bridal shops seem to stock up on these.

My mum thinks I'm nuts, for wanting to wear such high heels. If I could, I would wear 5-inch heels. Wei Jien is 6 feet tall so I reckon I can afford to pile on the height. I want sturdy heels so I don't trip and fall on my face. *touch wood*
